Herbs

Herbs for the winter season.  They will help you recover from a cold faster.  Some symptoms are chills, mild sweating,  cough, stiff neck, aversion to cold, white phlegm and/or mucus discharge.

Boil 2 cups of water with
1 cinnamon stick                            1 peppermint tea bag
5 Black pepper corns                       5 slices of raw ginger 4cm thick
3 Whole cloves                              2 cloves of garlic sliced in half
Reduce to a simmer and cook till 1 cup remains.  Drink warm 3 times a day for 2-3 days.

If there is a fever add to the above by soaking a cloth in lime water and wrap around you head.  Use one lime in about 2 cups of water. Repeat often to keep your head cool.   Also drink 1/2 a lime in 16 oz of water to keep internally cool and astringe sweat.

Keep in mind that the herbal recommendations are for the first signs of a cold and you should use fever reducing medicine during this treatment.  The aim is to sweat out the cold so keep warm/covered when drinking the herbal tea.  Remember herbs are medicine, caution with gastric reflux and stomach ulcers (remove the peppermint tea and garlic).  Do see a doctor if your symptoms persist.
